LATITUDE OF QUIET
The Latitude of Quiet is a series of landscape photographs that offer meditations on the language of beauty. I’m present, open and ready to recognize suggestive forms, the colors of light, texture, and shadows. I’m interested in perception, observation, and interpretation as well as the time and motion of the pinhole’s long exposure or Intentional Camera Movement (ICO).
The blur is intentional. By abandoning the idea of knowing, the sharpness becomes an irrelevant causality of this exploration. The myriad connections of nature are presented without “focused” lines and demarcations of detail in favor of transforming stillness. The eye searches for the sharp points of reference but finds pulsing color and imperceptible movement in the contours and shapes of the light.
Connection with intuitive knowing and the new visual possibility of experiencing nature emerges. It is unexpected, never static and always in the making.
